
Eligibility
CFTSS are for Children/youth who are:
• Enrolled in Medicaid
• Under the age of 21
And who:
• Need help with social, emotional, or
behavioral health challenges, or
• Need help with substance use issues
Accessing CFTSS
To get CFTSS, a child/youth will need a referral and a recommendation.
Referral:
• Anyone who knows a child/youth who
may need CFTSS can make a referral to
a CFTSS provider
• A youth who thinks they need CFTSS can
make their own referral to a CFTSS
provider
Recommendation:
• A licensed practitioner who sees
the child/youth, for example your
pediatrician or therapist, can make a
recommendation to the CFTSS provider
• A qualified CFTSS provider may make a
recommendation for CFTSS

Community/Selfadvocacy Training and Support Guidance provided by a qualified individual, to help a child develop better communication and common sense skills that will enable them to integrate into society, make friends and stick up for themselves as a regular, self-sustained individual.

Respite Services Short term services provided in a safe environment, outside the child’s home, by a capable respite provider with the appropriate expertise, who will implement necessary behavioral/developmental interventions to support optimal functioning of the child.

Caregiver Services and Support Education and assistance provided to family and caregivers to enhance the child’s function in the family and community setting. For example, training for caregivers on how to implement strategies to help a child focus in class and to control their behavior, or tutoring to help the child do well in school

Pre-vocational Services Employment related services provided for children ages 14+, including assistance with job placement and training on how to maintain a position by working on time management, abiding by the rules of the workplace and polishing their communication skills.
